How to Cook Corn on The Cob in Air Fryer

  1. We start with fresh corn and haven’t tried frozen corn on the cob. If you want to cook them from frozen, it might take the same amount of time.
  2. Cut the fresh corn ends to fit your air fryer basket. Or cut them in half for smaller air fryer sizes.
  3. Spray with olive oil spray and season with salt and pepper. If you add butter first, it might burn. So it’s better to add butter later when you eat it.
  4. Beautiful texture and flavor for air fried corn! All recipe details are in recipe box below.

Is White or Yellow Corn Better?

It all depends on where you buy it at. If it’s a seasonally fresh corn from the market, then most likely you’re going to get a sweet and delicious corn. Our favorite is sweet white corn. The kernels are tender and delicious and a real treat!

  • salt , to taste
  • black pepper , to taste
  • oil spray or olive oil

  • Coat all sides of the corn with oil spray or olive oil. Season with salt and pepper around the whole corn.

  • Air Fry at 370°F for 12-16 minutes, flipping half way. Cook until kernels are tender and lightly browned. (Cooking time will depend on size of corn, how full air fryer basket is, & different models/sizes of air fryers).

If your air fryer is preheated or if you are cooking multiple batches, you may need to reduce timing by a few minutes (unless preheating is called for in the recipe).

FAQs

What happens if you put butter in air fryer? ›

Yes, butter can replace oil in an air fryer. Use melted butter, brushing it lightly on the food you're cooking. Butter enhances flavor, making dishes richer and juicier, and helps with heat transfer as the air fryer's fan circulates air. However, butter's lower smoke point means it burns quickly and may produce smoke.

What is the secret to the air fryer? ›

Cook food in a single layer, in batches

The air fryer is all about — well — air. Meaning, you need to allow for good airflow to create all the browning and crisping the appliance was designed for. As such, you don't want to crowd the food in the basket too much, leaving space for the air to circulate.

Can you put aluminum foil in an air fryer with corn? ›

You can also air fry corn in aluminum foil. Wrapping corn in foil before air frying is a great way to lock in flavor. This step also prevents the corn from drying out during the cooking process. So if you don't want extra crispy kernels, just rub oil or butter over the corn, and season it before wrapping it in foil.

Is it bad to cook with butter instead of oil? ›

Butter can't withstand higher temperatures the way oil can, due to the milk solids in the spread. If you still want a buttery taste but need to cook something on a high heat, Fiona recommends using oil to fry on a high temperature and adding butter later, at a lower temperature.

Is it OK to cook with butter instead of oil? ›

It couldn't be easier to substitute butter for oil using a 1:1 ratio. This should work with olive, canola, vegetable, and coconut oils. Simply melt and cool the butter to room temperature, then continue with your recipe. (If the recipe calls for ½ cup oil, use ½ cup melted and cooled butter.)

What is the best way to cook shucked corn on the cob? ›

Cooking Method: Boiling in Salted Water

You just place whole, shucked corn cobs in boiling, salted water and boil them for 5 minutes. That's it.

How many minutes do you cook corn on the cob? ›

What is the best thing to put on the bottom of an air fryer? ›

Parchment paper is good for food that might stick to the basket, like chicken wings, making clean up a bit easier. If you're tempted to use parchment every day or are simply waste-conscious, consider instead a silicone liner for air fryers. They're reusable and dishwasher safe, cutting down on both waste and worry.

Why not to use aluminum foil in air fryer? ›

Don't Use Foil When It's Not Necessary

If you line the basket with foil you're preventing the air from circulating over the bottom; foods won't cook as speedily and the bottom may be soggier. Cook directly on the basket when you can for best results and to avoid wasting foil.

Why can't you use tin foil in an air fryer? ›

Only put a layer of foil in the bottom of the air fryer basket where your food sits, not on the bottom of the air fryer itself. Air fryers work by circulating hot air, which originates at the bottom of the fryer. Lining it with foil can constrict the air flow and your food won't cook properly.

Does foil block airflow in air fryer? ›

You should not put foil in a countertop air fryer or countertop oven with air fry. It can interfere with the appliance's airflow, affecting cooking performance.

Will butter burn in Airfryer? ›

Caution! Forget about butter or delicate cold-pressed oils, which are very likely to burn and smoke the whole kitchen.

Does butter make things crispy? ›

Cold butter is ideal for baked goods that should be crisp — it also helps create those beautiful, flaky layers.

Is it bad to put oil in an air fryer? ›

While your Philips Airfryer does not require oil to cook and fry the food, adding oil directly to fresh ingredients when preparing them, such as freshly peeled potatoes or chicken, can create a crispy layer and improve the overall taste of your dish. Note: never pour oil into the pan of the airfryer.
