Also, this recipe is really very easy to make too!

Delicious Chocolate Cake For Two

This is the perfect dessert to follow a romantic dinner.
However, you may decide to just make this delicious chocolate cake to share with someone else, like a friend.

To be honest, sometimes i just like to make a small cake.
What I mean is that I do not want to have a lot of left overs sitting around.
Even more important is that I do not need extra yummy stuff sitting around my kitchen tempting me every time that I walk past or look at it. Chocolate cake would certainly be that yummy stuff full of temptation for me.

As you may already know, chocolate is a known aphrodisiac.

There are many theories about why people associate chocolate with romance.
We know that dark chocolate increases the release of endorphins and that alone can make you feel better.
Thus, you can be feeling more receptive to romance as a result of the endorphins.

But, I must say that simply sharing a dessert with someone can lead to romance.
Especially if that dessert is made with chocolate.
To be honest, I could live on chocolate so I need little convincing about the effects it has on my brain.

You can certainly get creative with the size of the pan that you use to bake this chocolate cake recipe in.

Onc suggestion would be to use a standard square 8 by 8 inch size baking pan.
If you have a nine inch by two inch pan, usually round, that could work as well.

However, you may be someone wanting individual sized chocolate cakes.
There are 4 inch baking pans that you can find online that could work with this recipe. Another option would be to use a small cast iron skillet. Either individual pan option could work well in this recipe.

Of course, we are also concerned with the best wine to pair with this chocolate cake recipe for two.

This is a rich tasting dessert, thanks to the chocolate flavoring.
The chocolate in the cake gives us a bold taste, one reason why we are eating it I suppose.

Pairing a bold tasting chocolate cake would mean the we should balance that taste with something sweet.
Since this is a dessert as well, you could pair this cake with a port wine or a similar fortified selection.
However, you could also opt for a dark Cabernet instead. Both choices of wine offer a nice balance in taste in their own way and are thus, winners!

This cake uses Unsweetened Cocoa Powder in it.

You can buy some really great Unsweetened Cocoa Powder online.
However, you could also use the basic cocoa powder instead.

Delicious Chocolate Cake For Two

As mentioned, you will need a small, or two even smaller, baking pans for this recipe. You could use a standard square 8 by 8 inch size baking pan.

Here is what you will need to make this Delicious Chocolate Cake For Two.

That is, besides someone to share it with and of course, a bottle of wine.

  • Flour- ¾ cup of all purpose flour. Use Whole Wheat Flour to keep this Mediterranean Diet Friendly.
  • Sugar- ½ cup granulated. Use a natural sugar alternative to keep this friendly for Mediterranean Diets.
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder - ⅕th cup (about 3 tablespoons).
  • Baking Soda- ½ teaspoon
  • Vanilla Extract- 1 teaspoon
  • Milk- ½ cup. Can sub in water or buttermilk (for a richer texture), depending on the taste you are looking for.
  • Vinegar (white)- ½ teaspoon (helps activate the baking soda).
  • Butter- 3 tablespoons, melted. Use a plant based oil to keep this friendly for Mediterranean Diets.

If you are looking to make this cake a bit boozy, you could.
Consider using a Cabernet instead of the milk. You could add ½ cup of Cabernet instead of the milk or you could simply add ½ cup of each.
Another option would be to use a boozy frosting with this. I will hopefully be adding a recipe for a boozy frosting in the near future.

Here is how to make this Awesome and Delicious Chocolate Cake For Two.

  • Preheat your oven to 350. Prep your baking pan well for nonstick. Greasing and then flouring is one option for doing so. You could also use parchment paper, one of my favorite kitchen items.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder and baking soda. I actually prefer sifting my flour with the cocoa powder and then mixing the other ingredient into the bowl. Sifting allows for the flour and cocoa to blend together even better. This process is optional in this recipe however.
  • Next, in another bowl, stir together the vanilla extract, milk (or your substitute of choice), vinegar, and melted butter. Once these have blended together you can stir these wet ingredients into the dry ingredients in the first bowl.Be sure to scrape the sides of the bowl.
  • When the ingredients appear to be combined, you can transfer the batter into your prepped baking pans. Bake this for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool before frosting.

Tip: If you are baking two cakes, try to space them on two separate racks, just off center but not too close to the sides of the oven.
If there are three racks in your oven, the bottom two work best.
