The college basketball transfer portal opened on March 18, 2024, one day after conference tournaments concluded and the NCAA Tournament field was finalized.
More than 1,701 players have entered since that day, including more than 150 freshmen, 600 sophom*ores, 500 juniors and 400 seniors.

The most notable entrant from the Wisconsin basketball ecosystem is three-year starting point guard Chucky Hepburn. His departure leaves a gaping hole in the program’s 2024-25 starting lineup, but it also symbolizes the harsh reality of the current age of college basketball. If Hepburn can enter the portal, anybody can enter.
Greg Gard and his staff are hard at work looking for replacements for Hepburn, star guard A.J. Storr and veteran forward Tyler Wahl. The losses from the 2023-24 team are significant, but a few good portal additions could drastically change the team’s 2024-25 outlook.
